(di’’af-rag-mo-din’e-ah) [dia- hragmodynia phragm + Gr. ὀδύνη pain]. Pain in the diaphragm. diaphtherin (di-af’the-rin). Oxyquinaseptol, a yellow powder derived from coal-tar, and com of two molecules of oxy quinolin and one of aseptol. It is used as an antiseptic in solutions of from 0.5 to 2 per cent. diaphtol (di-af’tol). Quinaseptol; a quinolin derivative in yellowish crystals: antiseptic and antirheumatic. diaphysis (di-afis-is) (Gr. δεά apart + φύειν to w]. Any shaft of a long bone. diaphysitis diaphysis. diaplex, diaplexus (di/ap-leks, di-ah-pleks’us). 6 choroid plexus of the third ventricle. diaplexal (di-ap-leks’al). The superior or articular part of a transverse proce of a vertebra. diapyetic (di’ah-pi-et’ik). Promoting suppuration. diarhemia, diarrhemia (di-ar-e’me-ah) (Gr. διαρρεῖν to flow through]. A watery condition of the Pied occurring in sheep infested with parasites. diarrhea, diarrhoea (di-ar-e’ah) [Gr. 54 through + ῥεῖν to flow]. Abnormal frequency and liquidity of fecal discharges. ’ba, a disease of hot countries, affecting children especially. is thought to be of filarial origin. cachectic d., that which is due to some constitutional disease. choleraic d., acute diarrhea with serous stools, accompanied by vomiting and collapse. d. chylo’sa, diarrhea in which the discharge consists of 4 yellowish-white, mucopurulent substance. Sreital d., diarrhea occurring at the crisis of a disease or producing a crisis. di ecting-room d., severe diarrhea caused by exposure to the effluvia of a di ecting-room. dysenteric d., diarrhea with mucous and bloody stools. tor mental d., diarrhea caused by acid fermentation due to microdrganisms. gastros ο d., diarrhea due to gastric disorder. ill-d., a severe type of chronic intestinal catarrh eect to hot climates: named from the hill-districts of India. irritative d., diarrhea due to irritation of the intestine by improper food, poisons, purgatives, etc. lienteric d., diarrhea with fluid stools containing undigested food. mechanic d., diarrhea due to mechanic obstruction to the portal circulation, producing gastro-intestinal hyperemia. morning d., a condition marked by diarrhea in the morning only. mucous d., a kind characterized by the presence of mucus in stools. d. pancreat’ica, the diarrhea that accompanies parenchymatous degeneration or cystic disease of the pancreas. serous d., discharge of feces softened by copious serous fluid. summer d., acute diarrhea in children during (di’’af-is-i’tis). Inflammation of a great heat ofgsummer. tropical d. Sce sprue (ad def.). tubercular d., a variety peulie to cases of tuberculosis. tubular d.
