Belle Isle

(bel il',) an island of Brit. N. America, in the Atlantic Ocean, at the entrance of a strait of same name, between the coasts of Labrador and Newfoundland; Lat. 52° N., Lon. 55° W.- A small island of afew acres in the James River, in front of Richmond, Virginia.
