Hugh Charles Clifford , 8 Baron. b. New park, Somerset 29 May 1790; ed. at Stony hurst; travelled in south of Europe where he made a large collection of all the catechetical works of instruction authorized by the several religious communities of the continent; succeeded 29 April 1831. d. Rome 28 Feb. 1858. buried Rome 2 March by the side of Cardinal Weld. Gillow’s English Catholics i , 509–11 (1885).
