[Prefix rho do-, and Gr. hymēn =a membrane.] Bot .: The typical genus of Rhody men i aceæ (q.v.). [DULSE.] 3462 rhō-dy-mê-ni-ā-çe-æ, s. pl. [Mod. Lat. rhody men i(a); Lat. fem. pl. adj. suff.- aceœ.] Bot .: An order of Algals, being the tribe Rhodymeniee, raised to an order. Frond membranous, inarticulate, spores at first moniliform, fructifica tion double; first conceptacles half immersed, with a ma of spores affixed to a central placenta. Purplish or blood-red seaweeds, widely diffused.
