The Goldfinch ( Chrysomitris ) has acute bill, yellow on bases and edges of quills, male rich yellow, length 3 in. without tail; also called Thistle-bird and Yellow-bird. The Lark-finch (Chon destes ) of the prairies has tail 3 in. long, and is much streaked with black, white, and chestnut.
