(in’fri i-red), a. [ E. ved1.] Below the red. The infra-red rays of the spectrum are those invisible rays which have a greater wave-length and are le refrangible than the red rays at the lower end of the visible spectrum. (See spectrum.) Contrasted with ultra-violet.
