STRUMA

(Lat.) In Anatomy, an enlarged gland Stroma. In Botany, a swelling that is present in some leaves at the extremity of the petiole, where it is connected to the lamina; as in Mimosa sensitiva. The term also used in describing mo es to denote a dilatation or swelling that is at times present upon one side of the base of the theca. [s. 1195]
