Andros

, an island in the Ægean sea, known by the different names of Epagrys, Ant andros, Lasia, Cauros, Hydru a, Non agria. Its chief town was called Andros. It had a harbour, near which Bacchus had a temple, with a fountain, whose waters, during the ides of January, tasted like wine. It received the name of Andros from Andros son of Anius, one of its kings, who lived in the time of the Trojan war.
