Timrod, Henry

S. C., 1829-1867. Son of W. H. Timrod, infra. A poet and journalist of Charleston, and, in his last years, of Columbia, South Carolina, whose verse has very real merit. Spring in Carolina is one of his best poems. See Poems (1873), with Memoir by Paul Hayne, supra; Manly’s Southern Literature.
