[Gr. pimelē =fat.] Bot.: A genus of Thymelacese. Natives of Australia, New Zealand, . pim-ě-lěp-ter-i-na, s. pl. [Mod. Lat. pimelep ter(us); Lat. neut. pl. adj. suff. -ina. ] Ichthy.: A group of Sparide (q. v.). In both jaws there is a single anterior series of cutting teeth, behind which is a band of villiform teeth, which are found also on vomer, palatines, and tongue. Verticals densely covered with minute scales. pim-ě-lěp-ter-ŭs, s . [Greek pimele fat, and pteryx =a fin.] Ichthy.: The sole genus of the group Pimelepterina (q. v.), with six species, from tropical seas.
