(bŭrming-hăm,) a large manufacturing town of England,co. Warwick, 17 m. N.W. of Warwick, and 100 N.W. of London. This town is the "metropolis " of the iron and hardware trades, manufacturing almost every variety of metallic wares. Pop. 369,604. Birmingham, in Pennsylvania, a borough of Alleghany co., on the Monongahela river. It has extensive manuf. of gla and iron-ware. Pop. 8,603. [s. 95]
