[s. 390] : A town in Cape Colony, S. Africa, situated in Griqualand West, 647 miles by railway N. W. of Cape Town. It is capital of the Kimberly District, and stands at an altitude of 4,000 feet in the midst of the great diamond fields not far from the W. border of the Orange River Colony.
