Chem.: C11H1205 = (C11H1003)"} O2. A dibasic acid, obtained by boiling sinapine sulphocyanate with potash or baryta water. It crystallizes in prisms, which melt between 150° and 200°, is sparingly soluble in water and alcohol at the ordinary temperature, very soluble in boiling alcohol, but insoluble in ether. It forms easily soluble salts with the alkalies, sparingly soluble with the earths and metalic oxides, but all the salts decompose with great facility.
