Nearchus

, an officer of Alexander in his Indian expedition. He was ordered to sail upon the Indian ocean with Ones i crit us, and to examine it. He wrote an account of this voyage and of the king’s life; but his veracity has been called in question by Arrian. After the king’s death he was appointed over Lycia and Pamphylia.
