[Gr. episthen=forward (not in Liddell & Scott, but its opposite, opisthen = backward, is a well-known word), and tonos a stretching, from teinō =to stretch.] Med.: A spasmodic affection in which the body is bent forward; the same as EMPROSTHOTONOS (q. v.).
