Narcotine

(narko-tin.) (Chem.) An alkaloid contained in opium to the extent of 6 or 8 per cent.; it crystallizes in colorle transparent prisms, is di olved by alcohol and ether, although not freely. It is a strong narcotic, though not so powerful as morphia. Form. C461 25NO14- [s. 631]
