(fu'-el). Combustible matter. F.-gas, natural gas mixed with air, used largely for manufacturing purposes as a substitute for solid fuel. Artificial gas, of the water-gas type, not enriched with hydrocarbons for rendering it illuminant, is also sold as fuel-gas.
