[Eng. tuf ( a ); suff. -ite ( Petrol.).] Petrol.: The same as TUFA (q. v.). 4216 fallen; at others from the ejection of large quantities of heated aqueous mud at a certain phase in a volcanic eruption. In the latter case it frequently incloses twigs and fragments of charred wood overwhelmed in the course of the stream.
