Metallenterophthisis

Ining. testinal wasting or phthisis caused by metallic (met-al' -ik). Resembling a metal. M. Base for Artificial Teeth, a metallic plate adapted to such portion of the alveolar arch as is deprived of natural teeth, and is supplied with an artificial Substitute. Gold and platinum are the most suitable metals for this purpose, and those usually employed by American dentists; but silver is also very frequently used. M. Taste, a peculiar taste observed in certain diseases, and also after the ingestion of some of the metallic poisons. M. Tinkling, the peculiar quality given to a sound produced in a cavity in a tuberculous lung, or in a pleural sac containing a liquid exudate and a layer of air above it. M.
