(be'ne.) (Philol.) The constructive plural of the Arabic word Ebn, or Ibn, " son. " It occurs in Eastern geographical nomenclature, as designating the location of certain tribes or families, and also the tribe or family itself; as in Beni Ommayah, " the sons of Ommayah " -the Ommiades of history.
