[Eng. mus(e), s.; -al.] Of or per taining to the muses or poetry. mus-al-çheē, s. [Hind.] A torch-bearer. Mu-sal-man, s. [Mu ULMAN.] The spelling which has obtained most currency in English is Mu ulman (q.v.); the form Mu -sal man correctly represents the pronunciation, and is in accordance with Sir William Jones' system of transliteration. In Dr. Gilchrist's system the word is written Moosulman, and the vowels have their ordinary English force.
