pl. [Gr. gymnos = naked, and glo a tongue.] Zool.: A family of gastropods, in which the odontophore is without teeth. Gym no gramme lep tophylla is a small fern with fragile fronds one to three inches long. It is found in this country, in continental Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. ( Sir J. Hooker .) gym-nog -ỹ-nous, a. [Pref. gym no, Gr. gyně = a woman, and suff. -ous.] Bot.: Having the ovary naked.
