CAJEPUT OIL
Dictionary of Science, Literature and Art · 1842 · p. 7
A volatile oil obtained by distilling the leaves of the Melaleuca minor, a shrub abundant in Amboyna and Borneo, whence the oil is imported. This oil is of various shades of green, highly pungent and aromatic, and powerfully stimulant and diaphoretic. It has been much extolled as a remedy in the Asiatic cholera, but other e ential oils are probably as effectual. [s. 192]
