Mouse

The domestic mouse is Mus musculus. This genus has over 100 species, including a third of the family Muride. The genus Hesperomys of America has cheek pouches, and includes the white-bellied and the white-footed mice (length ab. 4 in., tail 3), the Golden mouse, Rice-field mouse (length 4 in., tail 5 in.); Oche to don includes the small Harvest mice (2 in.long). Besides these are the Voles or Meadow mice ( Arvicola ) that burrow in bogs, have short legs, blunt muzzles, and are rather slow in Chandler's Encyclopedia IMG:content-1452.jpg:[merged small][merged small][merged small][merged small][graphic] IMG:content-1453.jpg:[graphic] Mouse ( Mus musculus ). the sub-family Murinæ , have rooted molars; others have rootle molars.
