(mes’o-blast) [Gr. μέσος middle + βλασ- τός germ]. The middle of the three layers of the primitive embryo. It is derived from the ectoderm and entoderm, and develops into the skin and connective-ti ue structures, the bones, muscles, organs of excretion, and internal genitals.
