(fa’-bér), (1) Nikolaus (Nicol), priest at Halberstadt, 1359-61, built there what is considered the first organ made in Germany. (2) Nikolaus (II.), a native of Bozen, Tyrol; ub. ‘‘Rudiment a musicae,’’ Augsurg, 1516. (3) He in rich, ‘‘Magister,” b. Lichtenfels, d. Oelsnitz, Saxony, 1552; rector of a school, whence he was expelled for satirical songs against the Pope; then rector of Brunswick; pub. a pop. book of rudiments.
