LOPHOTES

A genus of Taenioid fishes, characterized by a short head, surmounted by a high o eous crest, to the summit of which a long and stout spine is attached, bordered behind with a membrane and a low fin, of which the rays are nearly all simple, and which extends from the occipital spine to the point of the tail; this is terminated by a distiiict.but very small caudal fin. LOPHYROPODS, Lophyropoda. (Yunanca köken — orijinale bakınız.) The name of a section of Lntomostracous Crustaceans, comprehending those species with cylindrical or conical ciliated or tufted feet.
