CITRON-MELON

a fruit of the watermelon species and resembling the watermelon in the general exterior appearance of its variegated rind, but smaller and nearly; round. It is not edible raw, its chief use being as a base for preserves after boiling in sirup strongly flavored with lemon or ginger or both.
