WILHELM, 1817-1890. Most eminent of Danish musicians; founder of the Danish School of Composition, which received its first impetus from his overture, Nachklänge aus O ian, 1841. He composed 8 symphonies, 5 overtures, 2 violin concertos, and 8 cantatas, besides chamber and ch. music. Gades. City of Spain on the Atlantic coast, founded by the Phœnicians; commercially important; now Cadiz.
