Adjustment

The regulating of instruments, as a compa , sextant, chronometer, etc, by bringing their parts in proper position for correct performance. The term is also applied in maritime transactions to the equitable arrangement of accounts; as shown in the statement of an Average-adjuster, apportioning the items which are chargeable to each of the various persons interested.
