Ephod

(ef'od.) (Heb., from ap had, to clothe.] (Script.) An ornamental upper garment worn by the Jewish high-priests. It is supposed to have been a sort of girdle, which, being brought from behind the neck over the two shoulders, and hanging down before, was drawn acro the stomach, then carried round the waist, and used as a waist-band to the tunic.
