teinoscope

[Greek teinō -to stretch, and skopeō to see, to observe.] A name given by Sir David Brewster to an optical instrument, consisting of prisms so combined that the chromatic aber ration of the light is corrected, and the linear dimensions of objects seen through them are in creased or diminished.
