MARIA DE, ST., 1696-1787. Bp. of St. Agatha, Naples, 1762-75; founder of the Red empt or ist order 1732; beatified 1816, canonized 1839; pronounced a doctor of the Ch. 1871. The Ligurians were apparently distinct from Iberians and Celts, but related to the Siculi.
