Declaration

of Rights. In 1765 the Stamp Act Congre published a ‘‘ Declaration of Rights and Grievances of the Colonists of America,’’ in which they protested against the Stamp Act and all efforts to tax them in a parliament in which they could not be represented, and claimed for themselves all the rights of British subjects. A similar declaration of rights was i ued by the Continental Congre of 1774, adapted to meet also the aggre ive acts which had more recently been pa ed by Parliament. Another such was included in the Declaration of Independence.
