A substance, C,gH,9 NO4, occurring in coca leaves, along with cocaine, and transformed into the latter by treatment with methyl iodide; prismatie crystals melting between 90° and 92° C., readily soluble in water, soluble with difficulty in alcohol, and insoluble in ether.
