pers, v. t. [pierced (perst), piercing.] thrust into or transfix with a pointed instrument; force a way into; to touch (the affections); to dive to (a secret or purpose); to bore, penetrate, perforate, reach. — r. i. To enter, as a pointed instrument dive or penetrate (into a secret, etc.).
