A name commonly applied to a species of flat fish, or Pleuronectes; and also to an Entozoon of a similar form (Distoma hepaticum), which infests the ducts of the liver of different animals, especially of the sheep. Fluke is also applied in navigation to the broad part of the anchor which takes hold of the ground. [s. 475]
