in Greek mythology the daughter of Zeus, the godde of strife and mischief. She caused much annoyance in Olympus that her father her to earth, where her presence was of great misery. Homer (J1. xix. 91) some tragic authors regard her as the spirit of or retribution for guilty rashne , and the kindly daughters of Zeus, the Litai as dogging her footsteps and counteract her evil deeds. It is not easy to separate her from those of Ara and Erinys. ‘The noun, of which she personifies the meaning, never found in any prose writer.
