(-leez',) or BELIZE, a British colony on the Bay Ballot, of Honduras, forming the S.E. part of the peninsula of Yucatan; bet. Lat. 15° 54′ and 18° 30′ N., Lon. 88° and 90° W.; area, 13,501 sq. m. Pop. 25,635, of which 6,614 Ballotade, are in the seaport town of Balize, the C. of the colony, situated at the mouth of a river of same name. [s. 70]
