COLLIER, WILLIAM

(1868), comeHenrietta Engle Collier, dancer. At thirteen he was a call boy at the Lyceum Theatre, New York City, then under the management of August in Daly, and became acquainted with the art of Ada Rehan, John Drew, Mrs. G. H. Gilbert, Maurice Barry more and other members of Daly’s stock company. After staying with Daly for six years, becoming a istant stage manager, he played a season with his father in tragedy. In The City Directory he early acquired note for his amusing impersonations of Daly. He appeared in many minor roles in various comedies until 1901, from which dated his emergence as 2 star comedian. Cohen in Hello, Broadway; and also starred in Take My Advice; A Little Water on the Side; Caught in the Rain; and Who’s Who.
