Plural of malleus. Malleidæ (ma-lē'i-dē), n. pl. [NL., malleifer (ma-lē'i-fèr), n. [ IMG:content-0139.jpg:[graphic] Mallei fer a Mallei fer a (mal-e-if'e-rä), n. pl. [NL., neut. pl. of malleifer: see mallei fer ous.] A supercla of craniate Vertebrata, or skulled vertebrates, distinguished by the development of the malleus as a bone of the ear, and by the direct articulation of the lower jaw to the skull. It corresponds to the cla Mammal i a, and contrasts with Quadrat if era and Lyrifera.
