Trumbull, Henry Clay

D.D. (Lafayette College, Easton, Penn., 1881; University of the City of New York, 1882); Congregationalist; b. at Stoning ton, Conn., June 8, 1830; was at Will is ton Seminary, East hampton, Ma ., 1844; education chiefly private; received honorary M.A. from Yale College, New Haven, Conn., 1866; was State mi ionary of the American Sunday-school Union for Connecticut, 1858-62; ordained as Congregational clergyman, Sept. 10, 1862, in order to go as chaplain to the Tenth Regiment Connecticut Volunteers; in army service until September, 1865 (prisoner of war in South Carolina and Virginia in 1863); mi ionary secretary for New England of American Sunday-school Union, 1865-71; normal secretary of the American Sunday-school Union, 1871-75; has been editor of the Sunday school Times, Philadelphia, since 1875.
