Felix, the composer, ance, was bom in 1809. His father was a wealthy Jew, 1842 who had him well trained, and, at the age of nine, he him appeared publicly in Berlin as a musician. At sixteen also he wrote the "Overture to the Midsummer Night’s METHODISTS Dream ** and in 1829 he travelled, becoming, on his companions return home,; musical director in Du eldorf. In students 183^ he became conductor of the famous concerts of and Leipzig; and eventually was summoned to Berlin, duties. by the king of Pru ia, to become director of music Wesley, at the Academy of Arts.
