Anglesey, Arthur

ANNESLEY, EARL OF, a native of Dublin, в. 1614. He took an active part in the restoration of Charles II., for which he was created earl of A., and succe ively made treasurer of the navy and lord privy seal. D. 1686. An'glesey, or Angle sea, HENRY WILLIAM PAGET, MARQUIS OF, B. 1708, was the eldest son of the first earl of Uxbridge, and at an early age entered upon a military life. At Waterloo he led the final charge which destroyed the French Guards, and near the close of the battle received a shot in the knee, which caused him the lo of his right leg. D. 1854. He has been called the English Murat , from the impetuosity with which he charged at the head of cavalry.
