Sicyoideæ (sis-i-oi'dē-ē), n. pl. [NL. (Endlicher, 1836), Sicyos + -oideæ.] A tribe of polypetalous plants of the order Cucurbit ace a and series Cremospermeæ. It is characterized by flowers with from three to five commonly united stamens, and a one-celled ovary with a solitary pendulous ovule, and includes 6 genera, natives of warmer parts of America, or more widely distributed in the type Sicyos (see also Sechium). The others, except Sicyosperma , a prostrate Texan annual, are high climbing perennials or shrubby vines of Mexico and further south, bearing heart-shaped leaves and fleshy fruit.
