(jo’zef), n. [Prob. in allusion to Joseph’s “ce ey) ve coat of many colors” (Gen. xxxvii. 3).] A garment made like a man’s great coat, usually with a broad cape, and buttoning down the front, worn in the eighteenth century and later by women when riding on horseback and on oceasions of similar exposure; sometimes, also, a similar garment worn by men.
