epiploce, epiplocy

[Gr. epiplokē =a plaiting together, from epiplekō =to plait together: epi =upon, and pleko to plait, to fold.] Rhet.: A figure by which one aggravation, or striking circumstance, is added in due gradation to another; as, He not only spared his enemies, but continued them in employment; not only continued them in employment, but advanced them. ě-pip-lô-çēle, s. [Gr. epiplokēlē (see def.), epip loon (q. v.), and kēlē =a tumor.] Surg.: Rupture of the omentum, scrotal hernia. ěp-1-plō-ic, a. [Gr. epiploon (q. v.); Eng., ., suff. -ic .] Anat. .: Of, belonging, or relating to the epiploon (q. v.).
