[FURFURAL.] für-für-o-pro-pi-on-Ic, s. [Eng. furfuro ( 1 ), and propionic.] (For def. see etym. and compound.) furfuropropionic-acid, s. Chem. CH3O-CH2-CH2COOH, formed by the action of nascent hydrogen from sodium amalgam and water on furfur acrylic acid, than which it is more soluble in water. It is extracted by ether from its aqueous solution, and is a colorle crystalline ma , melting at 51°. Hydrochloric acid turns it yellow. bread. *für-für-ous, a.
