Myxinoidæ (HAG-FISHES)

Family of Cyclostome fishes, including forms having a suctorial mouth, with labial proce es, and eyes hidden beneath the skin. The nasal cavity opens through the palate into the mouth. The branchial sacs open either by separate apertures or by a common aperture on each side. Myxine is parasitic on fish, and may even live endoparasitic in the cod, eating through the body wall of its host.
