Ecce Homo

Type of paintings showing the Saviour's Head crowned with thorns; mainly unknown before 1600. Ecce Homo, by Carlo Dolci, Pitti Gallery, Florence. Correggio's painting is in a group, while Guido Reni's is the single head. The words signify "Behold the Man," and were spoken by Pilate, on presenting Jesus to the populace.
